Chief Operating Officer, UC Davis Medical Center

Vincent Johnson

Vincent Johnson is chief operating officer of UC Davis Medical Center, responsible for integrating the health system's strategic goals into efficient day-to-day operations at UC Davis Medical Center and its outpatient offices.

Johnson's influence extends from the busy level I trauma centers at UC Davis Medical Center and UC Davis Children's Hospital to facilities, professional services, health information management and other key logistical and support functions. He leads the operations of clinical departments and divisions responsible for emergency care, surgical services, managed care and outpatient services, including a network of primary care offices extending from Auburn to Elk Grove.

Johnson's varied responsibilities also include oversight of facilities operations on UC Davis' 140-acre Sacramento campus, home to more than 3 million square feet of buildings and a suite of major expansion projects.

Johnson previously served as Vice President of Administration at Florida's Shands Jacksonville Medical Center, a 700-bed hospital that is the largest facility in the University of Florida-affiliated Shands Healthcare network. He has worked to help the underserved and improve health policy in volunteer leadership positions with the American Heart Association and other nonprofit organizations.

Johnson became a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives in 2007. He received his bachelor's degree in history in 1987 from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Va., and his master's in business administration in 1994 from Averett College in Danville, Va. He is married to Dana Johnson and they have two children.
