The UC Davis School of Medicine with its proximity to the state capitol is at the epicenter of health policy in California. This is an opportunity for students to understand how the legislative and regulatory environment influence the care we are able to provide for our patients. Students will learn to effectively use your voice to help shape the future of medicine.

Alternate Delegate for the Student Sections of the CMA and AMA

The Alternate Delegate position is served in the first year of medical school and is elected as part of the class officer elections. It is a two year commitment. The Alternate delegate is responsible for attending three meetings per year and assisting the Delegate. These meetings include the AMA's annual meeting, the AMA's interim meeting and the CMA's house of delegates meeting. Travel expenses are reimbursed by CMA. Additionally, the Alternate Delegate is instrumental in participating in the UC Davis CMA/AMA/SSVMS student interest group. The Alternate Delegate may choose to participate further by writing resolutions or by attending a variety of local events such as CMA's Leadership Day. At these meetings and events, the Alternate Delegate will have the opportunity to meet government officials in the health policy field and physicians from all over the country and to learn about the nation's health policy issues.

The Delegate is responsible for attending three meetings per year and voting on behalf of UC Davis.
