The medical school has a rich history of service-learning for medical students, exemplified by our Legislative internships, student positions, student-run clinics, community health fairs, and global health initiatives. There are currently eight student-run free clinics and most have been in existence for over 20 years. These clinics were the inspiration of medical students who saw a need to provide access to culturally and linguistically appropriate healthcare to Sacramento’s diverse uninsured communities. In addition, students have opportunities through Health Advocacy Track and Global Health initiatives.
