Recent Graduates

Yu-Ming Chang
Undergraduate Institution: UC Berkeley
Yu-Ming completed the Physician Scientist Training Program (Genetics) in 2008. His thesis research examined the role of tyrosine kinases in the development of androgen independent prostate tumors.  His thesis research examined the role of tyrosine kinases in the development of androgen independent prostate tumors. He is now doing an internal medicine residency at Santa Clara Valley MC.

Heather Collins-Schramm
Undergraduate Institution: UC Davis
Heather completed the Physician Scientist Training Program (Genetics) in 2006 and is entering the third year of the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine Pediatric Residency Program. Her thesis work developed a rapid method for looking at microsatellite allele frequency differences between populations and used this method to identify markers with large differences between ethnicities. These studies have led to progress in the application of Mapping by Admixture Linkage Disequilibrium (MALD) to complex genetic diseases.

Peyman Golshani
Peyman completed his Ph.D. training at UC Davis (2000) and then completed his M.D. (2002) at UC Irvine for family reasons. Peyman's thesis research was in the mechanisms that underlie the formation of specific synaptic connections in the mammalian central nervous system. Using whole-cell patch clamp recordings of neurons in in-vitro brain slices, he explored the maturation of the corticothalamic synapse, at both the single synapse and network level.  He has since completed resident training in Neurology at UCLA and is currently an Assistant Professor of Neurology at UCLA where he has received a K08 award.

Ramy Hanna                                                                                                                   Undergraduate Institution: UC Berkeley
