The Graduate Group in Computer Science offers programs of study leading to the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Computer Science. The varied nature of the faculty brings a wide variety of research interests to the program. Research strengths lie in algorithms, artificial intelligence, computer architecture, computer graphics, computer systems design, database systems, computer security, computer networks, fault tolerance, program specifications and verification, programming languages and compilers, parallel and distributed systems, operating systems, performance evaluation, robotics, scientific computation, and software engineering. Interdisciplinary research in computer science is encouraged. There is also a specific program that offers an M.S. in Health Informatics. Other opportunities for specific research in bio-informatics and computational biology can be found at specific faculty home pages. (Related Site.)

Other opportunities

Other opportunities for graduate training include traditional fields such as chemistry related site, and engineering related site. (Note: see also biomedical engineering).
