Now offered free of charge at multiple locations

Gaining knowledge and understanding of your health is the first step toward becoming an active self-manager. UC Davis Health System offers workshops, classes and support to educate and empower you to quit tobacco.

Educational opportunities are offered at varying times at UC Davis Medical Center as well as UC Davis Medical Group offices throughout the greater Sacramento region.

Strategies to Quit workshop

2 hour interactive workshop addressing strategies to quit tobacco. Basic Information about tobacco addiction, how to break the addiction cycle, medications, and self-management skills.

SToP: Stop Smoking Cessation 7 class series

The SToP: Stop Tobacco Smoking Cessation series meets for 8 sessions over several weeks and focuses on empowering tobacco users to overcome the addiction. It incorporates many aspects of smoking cessation including behavior modification, nutrition, medications, and relapse prevention. Various tools and strategies are offered and a multidisciplinary team consults with the group to support each person’s process. Led by a Certified Tobacco Treatment Specialist and Health Educator.

Support groups available

Smoke-Free Support Groups meet monthly and are offered as web based or drop-in in-person groups. These groups are ideal for those who have quit  tobacco and desire ongoing group support. Directed discussion about various topics as presented by participants. These groups provide support and encouragement through shared experiences for those who need help to maintain success in their new healthy lifestyle. Facilitated by a Certified Tobacco Treatment Specialist or Health Educator. Drop-in basis for UC Davis Health System Patients and Employees.

California Smokers Helpline

The California Smokers' Helpline is a telephone program that can help you quit smoking. Helpline services are free, funded by the California Department of Public Health. To reach the Smokers' Helpline call, 1 (800) NO-BUTTS or 1-(800) 662-8887. Helplines are open Monday through Friday 7am-9pm and Saturday from 9am-1pm. Anyone in California can call the Helpline, whether they are currently smoking, have already quit, or want information for a friend or relative.
