Wavefront Laser Technology
For their Custom LASIK patients, UC Davis ophthalmologists are using the recently FDA-approved LADARVision‚ wavefront technology that tracks eye movements 4,000 times a second — 33 times faster than any other system. This gives the UC Davis laser vision correction team unmatched precision in correcting nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism, as well as the higher order aberrations. The LADARVision‚ system maps individual corneas in three dimensions capturing their unique irregularities and then transmitting the mapping directly to the excimer laser where the map acts as a guide during surgery.
NOTE: Laser vision correction cannot correct a condition known as presbyopia, aging of the eye, which normally occurs around age 40 and may require the use of reading glasses. In fact, people over 40 who have their nearsightedness reduced with surgery may find they need reading glasses sooner after the procedure. Your doctor will discuss the concept of "mono-vision" with you and provide you with additional information that will allow you to make an informed decision.
