To fulfill the educational component of its mission today, the Department of Internal Medicine trains the leading physicians of tomorrow for the Central Valley and beyond. We educate new doctors with the same passion and dedication that we bring to patient care and research. Internal-medicine faculty and staff produce the best physicians by teaching residents and fellows to communicate openly with patients, treat individuals as whole entities, and respect quality of life issues. Because the practice of medicine is constantly changing, we emphasize the importance of life-long learning and the willingness to be open to new ideas and to ask questions.
