Clinical Core
The Clinical Core serves as a resource for all Center members, clinical Infectious Diseases fellows and graduate student. The core advises users of trial design, assists with recruitment of potential volunteers for Center-sponsored pilot studies, assists in Institutional Review Board (IRB) and regulatory submission, manages a clinical patient database, specimen repository and provides overall clinical expertise to the Center.
The Clinical Core is open to all Center members, and is located at Center for AIDS Research, Education and Services Clinic (CARES) in Sacramento, California. The Clinical Core supports all relevant research projects whose focus is on HIV-AIDS with the goal of increasing the understanding of HIV/AIDS in under represented minorities and by gender. The specific emphasis areas of the Clinical Core are those which will maximize the research activities of the probable users, both established and junior faculty.

Samples identified through the Center database can be retrieved from the specimen repository for analysis
