Living in Sacramento
Sacramento is one of those destinations where people move for a job opportunity and later discover the best-kept secret for living life to the fullest. Our faculty and fellows live in Sacramento or the surrounding region including the college town of Davis, approximately 12 miles from UC Davis Medical Center. Although the region has undergone tremendous growth over the past several years, housing remains affordable. Centrally located, Sacramento is within 90 miles of both Lake Tahoe and San Francisco. The majestic coastal surrounding and the wine country of Napa Valley are close as well.
The relatively mild climate allows outdoor activities year round. A plethora of cultural and sporting events can be found in Sacramento and Davis, including the NBA's Sacramento Kings. Sacramento also holds the California International Marathon with a growing number of participants each year.
A young and fresh artistic community is present with a now famous Second Saturday that happens every month where all the galleries and restaurants open their doors. It is a great opportunity to explore with friends and family. Being the state capital, world-class artists visit our city and our beautiful Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts. We love living in Sacramento!
