Training the physicians of tomorrow
To fulfill the educational mission today, the Department of Internal Medicine trains the leading physicians of tomorrow for the Central Valley and beyond. We educate new doctors with the same passion and dedication that we bring to patient care and research. Internal Medicine faculty and staff produce the best physicians by teaching residents and fellows to communicate openly with their patients, respecting them as individuals, and improving their quality-of-life. Because the practice of medicine is constantly changing, we emphasize the importance of lifelong learning and the willingness to be open to new ideas and to ask questions.
