Community partnerships

Community-based intervention is a key component in the approach to preventing injuries in children and adolescents.  Partnered with education and resources available from academic institutions like the UC Davis Health System, community-based projects can have a significant role in decreasing preventable injuries and deaths among children.

Our trauma outreach and prevention program began working with Community & Physicians Together (CPT) in 2007 to provide sustainable injury prevention programs in Sacramento and the surrounding communities.  To date we have partnered with seven neighborhood collaboratives to build community centered programs addressing child passenger safety and head injury prevention.

The success of these partnerships has lead to the establishment of bilingual child passenger fitting stations, neighborhood head injury prevention programs and safety helmet distribution centers.  To learn more about how your community can become involved in injury prevention call our program at 734-9794.
