Improving Lives and Transforming Health Care

UC Davis School of Medicine, UC Davis Medical Center and the Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing occupy a beautiful 140-acre campus in central Sacramento, a city of more than 450,000 and capital of one of America’s largest, most diverse and most influential states. The campus is minutes from California’s State Capitol and a half hour from the university’s Davis campus, and lies at the heart of a vibrant metro area that exceeds 2 million residents.

The health system serves as a key referral center for severe, complex conditions across a fast-growing service area that includes 33 counties and 6 million residents in Northern California and the state’s Central Valley. It is home to inland Northern California’s only Level I trauma center, the region’s full-service, nationally ranked children’s hospital and specialists trained in more than 150 areas of advanced medicine.

Beyond California, the health system plays a leading role in clinical breakthroughs, research discoveries and policy changes that help resolve local and global health problems and attract nationwide and worldwide attention.
