It's your future. The University of California Retirement System (UCRS) administers three retirement savings and investment plans designed to help you achieve a future that is financially secure. Participation in at least one of these plans is mandatory and automatic for all employees. To help you understand these plans and your options, the UC Davis Health System Benefits office offers the following workshops.

UC Retirement Workshop (Course Code 00834)

This 3- hour workshop provides an extensive overview of the University of California Retirement Plan (UCRP), the basic pension plan, which provides monthly retirement income, disability benefits, survivor income and death benefits. Membership in UCRP is automatic for most career employees. This workshop will enable you to make informed decisions regarding your retirement throughout your career. Enrolled participants will receive personalized printouts of retirement income forecasts, current service credit, and current plan balances. Topics include: membership, vesting, and the effects of a break in service; how service credit is earned, what it is used for, and how to buy it back; the formulas used to calculate eligibility for benefits and the amounts paid; eligibility for health insurance; IRS codes, regulations, limitations, and penalties; and options upon leaving UC employment. This workshop is appropriate for UCRP members at any stage in their career, as well as those employees considering becoming a member.

Pregnancy Leave Workshop (Course Code 01677)

This 2-hour workshop provides participants with information and forms needed to prepare for a Pregnancy leave of absence. Topics include, safe ergonomic posture, body mechanics, and chemical/radiation hazards for pregnant women in the workplace and in the home; policies, procedures, and practices regarding leaves of absence, Family Disability Act, and California Family Acts; and, procedures for applying for disability benefits, enrolling your new born, and continuing your insurance coverage while on leave.
