New Provider Electronic Medical Record (EMR) Training Program
This Program was developed in 2008, to provide a consistent introduction to the UC Davis Health System EMR and its functionalities for all new billable providers. The uniqueness of this Program is that it provides EMR functionality training blended with billing compliance regulations specific to providers in a teaching setting.
The courses specific to new providers are as follows:
EMR Overview Training for New Providers: This course is for all new billable providers and introduces the provider to all
UC Davis Health Systems and the Diagnosis Related Grouping (DRG) Assurance Program, and also satisfies the mandatory Billing Compliance Training.
- EMR Functionality Training for Inpatient New Providers: EMR Inpatient New Provider class is designed to teach a provider:
- How to log into the Inpatient EMR system
- create and view a patient list, open a patient's chart or an encounter, be familiar UC Davis Health System Security policy– Break the Glass
- Progress through the Table of Contents Menu, view summary reports including a snap shot view, use navigators to enter/view patient history, enter orders, reconcile orders, communicate with nurses, pharmacists, lab and discharge planners
- Sign orders and log out
- Manage the In basket functionality in EMR
- EMR Functionality Training for Outpatient New Providers: This course covers EMR functionality related to outpatient providers.
- How to log into the Ambulatory Out patient EMR system
- View a schedule, open an Encounter (patient chart), view a Snap Shot, be familiar UC Davis Health Systems Security policy– Break the Glass
- Move through the Visit Navigator/Table of Contents Menu
- Use charting tools such as a smartlist, smarttext, and create smartphrases
- Print an AVS, close an Encounter and log out
- Manage the In basket functionality in EMR
- EMR Functionality Training for Emergency Department New Providers: This course covers EMR functionality related to emergency department providers.
Additional on-site training is also offered in conjunction with the UC Davis Health System Physician Documentation Review Program and assists providers with on-going EMR functionality learning and documentation requirements.
