"With the some of nation’s best experts in cardiology, vascular services and cardiothoracic surgery, we offer a breadth of specialty care and an integrated, comprehensive approach to treatment that is unmatched in the region."

Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs, UC Davis Health System

Welcome to cardiovascular services at UC Davis Health System. Our number-one goal is excellence in patient care. Every member of our team maintains the highest levels of quality by integrating innovative research with current treatments and a compassionate, collaborative approach to care. With some of the nation’s best experts in cardiology, vascular services and cardiothoracic surgery, we offer a breadth of specialty care and an integrated, comprehensive approach to treatment that is unmatched in the region.

Sophisticated imaging, advanced therapeutics and diverse clinics are the defining features of our services, giving us opportunities to treat any heart or vascular condition or disease. With the move to new facilities this year, those capabilities expanded even further. UC Davis is now home to state-of-the-art catheterization and electrophysiology laboratories, a hybrid surgical suite where endovascular and traditional vascular surgery procedures can be performed in one location, and the region’s only magnetic-guided catheter system, giving physicians the clearest possible pictures of the intricate architecture of the heart.

If surgery is necessary, our cardiothoracic surgery team can take care of you. Options include conventional open-chest procedures as well as a complete range of minimally-invasive techniques. UC Davis is one of only a handful of hospitals in the nation performing a robotic-assisted bypass in conjunction with angioplasty. This unique combination offers the durability of conventional bypass surgery, plus the quicker recovery benefits of minimally invasive procedures – the best of both worlds. Our surgeons work together with referring physicians to assure the right option – or combination of options – is matched with each patient’s specific needs.

All of these opportunities are enhanced by a health system-wide commitment to translational research, which promises to quickly transition advances made in laboratories into treatments for patients.

Thank you for considering cardiovascular services at UC Davis. I am confident you will discover that our entire team offers a wealth of experience and skills that can benefit you.

Sincerely,

James E. Goodnight Jr., M.D., Ph.D.
