Make a shopping list and browse the seasonal fruits and vegetables from local, certified and organic farms, artisan cheeses, grass-fed beef, eggs and specialty items. May 23, 2013 — UC Davis Alzheimer's Disease Center Distinguished Lecture. “Portraits of Artists with Dementia” is the topic of the first UC Davis Alzheimer’s Disease Center Distinguished Lecture, to be presented by Bruce L. Miller, director of the UC San Francisco Memory and Aging Center. The lecture will be presented from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the auditorium of the UC Davis MIND Institute, 2825 50th St., Sacramento. May 30, 2013 — National Cancer Survivors Day: Impact on the Family: Two sessions. First session: Discussion on "Children Coping with Cancer." Torri Miller Jones, Ph.D., a clinical psychologist, provides support to parents and families coping with cancer, has presented her work at national conferences and published in several professional journals. Time: 11-11:45 a.m. Second session: Robyn Raphael will share her story as a parent of a child with cancer. Robyn established the Keaton Raphael Memorial to honor her son, Keaton, who died of neuroblastoma at age 5. Time: 11:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Both sessions will be held in the UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center Auditorium with lunch provided. This event is free and open to the public. June 1, 2013 — National Cancer Survivors Day: Survivors Picnic.  Join us as we celebrate cancer survivors with a barbecue lunch, community exhibits, children’s activities and an exhibit of art by cancer survivors. The picnic will take place in front of the UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center, 2279 45th Street, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Lunch will be provided to the first 250 registered participants. June 1, 2013 — Autism seminar and online webcasts.  Physicians, other health-care professionals and parents are invited to attend in person or view the presentations via webcast. Free online pre-registration is required for both online and in-person attendees. Continuing medical education (CME) for medical professionals and general Continuing Education Units (CEU) are available for non-medical professionals for a processing fee.
