Underserved Preceptor Sites
A preceptor’s clinical practice site may be designated “underserved” if it meets federal or state criteria, some of which are:

Practice site is located in a Health Professional Shortage Area (HPSA), so designated by the United States Congress

Practice type or setting which serves specific patient populations deemed underserved by the State of California or federal government (examples are health centers for the homeless, free clinics, neighborhood community clinics, rural health clinics, etc.).

Federally designated Migrant Health Service Centers.

County public health departments.

Federally operated Indian Health Service Centers.
