Policies for Dismissal

  1. A student on probation who fails to remove an academic deficiency as specified in the contract by the Academic Progress Committee (APC), or who accumulates an additional deficiency while on probation may be recommended for dismissal to the Program Director.
  2. The Program Director reviews the academic and clinical progress of the student, violations of contracts if any, independently reviews all graded components of the program and makes the final disposition of the recommendation, either to dismiss or to delay/postpone dismissal based on the outcome of the additional specified remediation or grading components.
  3. Dismissal of a student from the program by the Program Director may occur for any one or more of the following reasons:
    • A student on academic probation fails to remove the deficiency within the specified period of time, including non-participation in APC contract defined remediation.
    • A student receives 2 failing course grades (F or NP) during the program.
    • A student on academic probation accumulates another deficiency (receives a failure to progress clinically (F or NP) grade or in any courses component  comprising greater than 15% of the grade while on academic probation including a single course failure.
    • As a consequence of review of a student's conduct.
    • A student refuses to discontinue clinical components of the Program when instructed to do so by any representative of the Program or University.
    • Failure to progress clinically.
