Financial aid

Financial aid is administered by the School of Medicine Financial Aid Office. Financial aid should be considered as a resource for only partial funding of the expenses of the program.  Due to the academic and clinical rigors of this program, FNP/PA Program students should not plan to work to support themselves more than two days a week. It is very important to have your finances in order before you begin the program and budget for both the cost of attendance and living expenses.

Information regarding financial aid is automatically sent to those applicants who are chosen to be interviewed.  If applying for financial aid, the application must be made prior to acceptance into the FNP/PA Program to meet the March 2nd financial aid deadline.

Additional questions regarding financial aid should be directed to:  UC Davis School of Medicine, 4610 X Street, Suite 3124, Sacramento, CA 95817.  Phone:  (916) 734-4120.   http://www.ucdmc.ucdavis.edu/mdprogram/financialaid/index.html

Housing

Student housing is not available for FNP/PA Program students.  Students who need overnight housing in the Sacramento area during class weeks make their own housing arrangements.

Computer requirements

All UC Davis FNP/PA students are required to own a laptop computer with an active Internet service account. Purchase of a PDA is highly recommended, but not required. By the first day of the program, students must be familiar with the computer (Windows, Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel and all functions of e-mail).  All courses include an on-line component, thereby requiring extensive use of the internet and e-mail to submit assignments, communicate with faculty and staff, and conduct research and other projects as assigned.  The following Web site is one of many resources that provides information to students regarding recommended computer purchase at various price ranges. http://computerownership.ucdavis.edu/

Students who need to purchase a laptop and who apply for financial aid may list the cost of computer expenses (up to $2000) in their financial aid application.  http://www.ucdmc.ucdavis.edu/mdprogram/financialaid/applyaid4c.html
