Work Hours
The internship is a full time program and interns are expected to be in rotations on a full-time basis. Work hours will vary with the requirements of the rotation to which the intern is assigned. Generally, the intern’s work hours will be similar to that of the preceptor the intern is working with at the time. Rotations in food service management may require the intern to begin work as early as 5:00 a.m. or end work as late as 9:30 p.m. on various days. Interns will provide some weekend coverage throughout the internship. Interns will be given compensatory time off during the week on those weeks a weekend is worked. Interns can expect to work some holidays. Due to the professional nature of the dietetic internship, interns should anticipate the need to spend additional time outside of the normal workday to complete assignments and projects in a timely manner.
