Dietetic Internship Graduation Requirements
All interns are required to complete the internship in full and meet the competencies, duties and responsibilities set forth for the internship. A written “intern evaluation” shall be the record of the intern’s work performance, completed and reviewed with the interns by each preceptor after each rotation. The dietetic internship director reviews all evaluations.
Interns must meet a satisfactory rating in all performance evaluations and meet satisfactory work on all projects and case studies. If an intern fails to complete an assignment or any supervised experience hours due to circumstances beyond his/her control; these assignments/hours must be made up prior to graduation from the program. If an intern fails to achieve this, efforts will be made for remedial and/or individualized experiences to allow the intern to succeed. If the intern has not improved in performance and competencies remain below a satisfactory rating, the intern may be removed from the program without fee reimbursement.
Upon completion of the dietetic internship program, interns will receive a verification statement indicating that the internship has been completed. Upon satisfactory completion of the internship, interns are eligible to become active members of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND) and to sit for the Registration Examination for Dietitians administered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR).
