Thomas King, M.D.
Dr. King is co-director of the Mohs and general dermatologic surgery services. Since he arrived in 2002, the department’s surgical volume has grown to well over one thousand cases per year. In addition to working at UC Davis, he is Chief of Mohs and general dermatologic surgery at the VA Sacramento Medical Center at Mather Field, which is affiliated with UC Davis. As an associate clinical professor, he offers the residents one-on-one dermatologic surgery training and gives didactic lectures on surgical techniques. The residents voted him outstanding faculty member for 2007. He started the UC Davis procedural dermatology fellowship program in 2006 and currently serves as associate program director. Dr. King is a board-certified dermatologist and a fellow of the American College of Mohs Surgery. In his career, he has performed thousands of Mohs surgical cases, has published in peer-reviewed journals, and has presented at national dermatology meetings. Dr. King went to medical school at the University of Oklahoma in 1974-78 and then became a flight surgeon in the United States Air Force for five years. He went on to do a dermatology residency in 1984-87 at Wilford Hall USAF Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas and did his Mohs fellowship training with Drs. Tom Stasko and Don Grande at the New England Medical Center in Boston in 1991-92. His interests include cutaneous oncology, surgical treatment of melanoma and nonmelanoma skin cancer, and resident dermatological surgical training. |
