Haines Ely, M.D.
|Haines Ely M.D. has been teaching residents at UC Davis since 1975 (before there was a full time Department of Dermatology). He is particularly interested in dermatologic therapy and has lectured on the most recent advances in therapy all over this country as well as in Europe and Australia. In 1996 he spoke on "What's new in dermatologic therapy" at the American Academy of Dermatology annual meeting in Washington, D.C. His topic was "Tumor necrosis factor inhibition in dermatologic disease." This was years before our current biological TNF inhibitors were discovered. At the same meeting he proposed using the sap of the Euphorbia peplus plant as a skin cancer remedy. It is now on the market and commercially available. He loves to see the most difficult cases with our residents and often comes up with novel therapies for untreatable conditions. He also has a special interest in teledermatology applications here at UC Davis and sees patients in the Telemedicine Department two days a week.|
