Deciding to participate in a clinical trial
The first step in deciding whether to participate in a clinical trial is to talk with your doctor. Learn as much as possible about the clinical trial you are considering. You may contact us at (916) 734-1438 to schedule an appointment with one of our Clinical Research Coordinators. Below are some questions you might want answered:
- What is the purpose of the study?
- What types of tests and experimental treatments are involved?
- Will the study directly benefit me?
- How do the possible risks, side effects and benefits of the study compare with my current treatment?
- What are the risks?
- What are the chances these risks may occur?
- What will this study require of me?
- How much time will be involved?
- Who pays for the experimental treatment?
- Will I be reimbursed for the treatment?
- May I leave the trial at any time?
