Community Advisory Board helps improve community connectivity
We live in a wonderfully diverse community full of opportunities for UC Davis Health System to partner with community members to improve the quality of life and health for our region. One key way we connect with the community and ensure that we meet the needs of those we serve is collaboration with our Community Advisory Board (CAB). This community board serves as a sounding board to allow us to learn from the people we serve — about their needs and how well we are doing in meeting those needs.

The CAB hosted the health system's Summer Concert in August.
UC Davis Health System’s Community Advisory Board is a diverse group of 28 volunteer members who live and work in the Sacramento region. Members are dedicated community activists, interested professionals and dynamic volunteer leaders, representing diverse interests, perspectives and communities in our region. They lend us their insights and expertise so that we can make informed decisions about which UC Davis Health System programs and opportunities will provide the best results for our community.
The benefits of the CAB’s guidance are evident in all four of our missions — education, research, clinical care and community engagement. For example:
The CAB has worked to develop educational programs — like our Saturday Academy — that help high school students in our Oak Park area achieve academic success.
To promote diversity in our clinical trial research, the CAB actively partnered with us to attract increased participation from communities across Sacramento.
The CAB provides insight about how our clinical care is received in the community and how it can be continuously improved.
The CAB also plays a critical role in helping us identify potential partners for community-engagement projects. Recently, the CAB served as hosts for our Summer Concert.
In addition to the role of trusted advisor to UC Davis Health System, each member of the CAB serves another purpose as well. Each member of the board, because of his or her understanding of our missions and our progress toward our goals, serves as an ambassador for the health system to various audiences.
This connectivity to our community is an extremely valuable asset to the health system — and to the community. The CAB assures that we understand the community’s needs; it also demonstrates to the community that we hear and understand what they want from us.
We are grateful to the members of the CAB for their leadership, insight and dedication. And we need your insight, your leadership and your dedication as well. Please let us know what you are hearing in your community about UC Davis Health System or any ideas you have for how we can partner with community organizations to better serve the needs of our neighbors.
Together, we will continue to advance health for all!
Sincerely,
