K12 Mentored Career Development Program
The K12 clinical and translational research training program provides mentoring and support to highly-qualified junior faculty to conduct multidisciplinary clinical/patient-oriented research, for a period of up to 3 years.
The goal of the K12 program is to accelerate the career development of promising junior faculty, promoting their development as independent clinical/patient-oriented multidisciplinary research investigators.
The K12 program recruits junior faculty members early in their career who have demonstrated the aptitude and commitment to undertake multidisciplinary clinical and translational research. Successful graduates of the K30 program (or others with comparable training) may apply for the K12 clinical and translational research Mentored Career Development Program. The program will provide selected scholars with $75,000 in salary support and $10,000 for research expenses per year for up to 3 years so that they may:
- Obtain additional research training through participation in coursework, workshops, and/or individualized programs of study.
- Conduct a rigorous but feasible multidisciplinary clinical/patient-oriented research investigation relevant to their research interests.
- Be mentored by senior investigators from diverse backgrounds with a demonstrated track record of successfully developing the career of junior colleagues.
- Draw from, and participate in, the activities and resources of the UC Davis CTSC, as well as a nation-wide consortium of NIH-funded CTSA sites. This will include a commitment to presenting their work in seminars and assisting in the recruitment of trainees into the CTSC supported educational and training programs.
