Nursing Orientation
The goal of nursing orientation is to ensure that orientees receive consistent information regarding policies, procedures, standards and documentation to support practice and familiarize them with the UC Davis Health vision, mission, values, goals and organizational structure. In addition, each orientee is shown how to independently access online polices, procedures and competencies. Policies covered include infection control, emergency response and the work environment.
In keeping with the UC Davis Health vision, mission, values and goals, the objectives of nursing orientation are geared toward creatively using existing resources to meet the new demands of a constantly changing health-care environment. Nursing orientation provides advanced technological presentations including a learning management system for computerized examinations. An overview of the Center for Professional Practice of Nursing’s website familiarizes the orientees with nursing education, patient and employee education, health education and resources.
Chief Patient Care Services Officer, Toby Marsh, R.N., M.S.A., M.S.N., F.A.C.H.E., N.E.A.-BC, welcomes all orientees to UC Davis Health. In addition, staff from Risk Management, Nursing Research, Pharmacy and Patient Services provide information regarding their areas of practice.
