Course description

Wound care is a very challenging field in nursing that has continually evolved with health-care changes. With the advent of evidence-based practice and improved patient outcomes, there is no better time to learn about the newest strategies in wound care management than now. The UC Davis Medical Center wound care seminar will give all nurses, whether novice or expert, the necessary knowledge and skills of basic and intermediate wound care management.

Among the objectives of the course include a review on the anatomy and physiology of skin and its underlying structures, functions, layers, and blood components, basic principles of wound healing, strategies of wound assessment, proper wound bed preparation, dressing selection, pressure ulcer prevention and treatment, other wounds, nutritional management of patients with wounds, the role of mobility in wound management and wound healing, legal implications of wound care management and pressure ulcer prevention, and the significance of multi-disciplinary approach to wound care management.

C.E. contact hours

Provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, provider number CEP 26, for 7.5 contact hours.

Attendees will not receive C.E. credit if they are more than 20 minutes late; no partial credit can be awarded.

Registration deadline

A $10 late fee will be charged for registrations received after January 24, 2013.

UC Davis employees

$40 registration fee.

Community registrants

$115 registration fee.
$100 registration fee for groups of three or more registering together from the same institution.
$25 student registration fee (with school I.D. at registration; No C.E. credit).

Refund policy

Cancellation must be requested fourteen days prior to class to receive a full refund or deposit. A $50 service fee will be charged after this date. If the provider cancels the course a full refund will be provided.

Parking

Parking is available in lot 25, approximately one block from the Broadway Building on 50th Street adjacent to the MIND Institute. Park with a UC Davis parking permit, or purchase a daily permit for $6.
