Course description

Assaults against health-care workers have become endemic. The purpose of this course is to explain and demonstrate techniques for preventing and containing violence. Topics to be covered in this course include: assessment and identification of violent persons, interventions/approaches to challenging situations, and principles and physical interventions for avoiding a violent situation.

C.E. contact hours

Provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, provider number CEP 26, for 5.0 contact hours.

Provider approved by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences, provider number PCE 737, for 5.0 contact hours.

Attendees will not receive C.E. credit if they are more than 20 minutes late; no partial credit can be awarded.

UC Davis employees

$25 registration deposit. Registration deposit is returned upon completion of class. Cancellation must be requested five days prior to class date to receive deposit refund.

Community registrants

$50 registration fee. Cancellation must be requested five days prior to class date to receive a full refund. A $25 service fee will be charged after this date.

Parking

Parking is available in lot 25, approximately one block from the Broadway Building on 50th Street adjacent to the MIND Institute. Park with a UC Davis parking permit, or purchase a daily permit for $6.
