This course will address current methods of achieving pain management in patient care. Areas to be addressed include characteristics of pain, analgesics and dose ranges, pain measurement, patient advocacy issues, policy review and patient education. Epidural use and policies will be covered, plus hands-on pump practice. Issues surrounding pain management in special populations such as pregnancy, pediatrics, neurologically impaired, substance abuse and palliative pain control will be explored.

Provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, provider number CEP 26, for 6.5 contact hours.

UC Davis Medical Center is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

Attendees will not receive C.E. credit if they are more than 20 minutes late; no partial credit can be awarded.
