Topics of discussion will include:

• Common Communicable Diseases in Pediatrics - Content includes signs/symptoms of Respiratory Syncytial Virus, Cytomegalovirus, and Pertussis; methods of preventing cross - transmission.
• Multiple Drug Resistant Organisms (MRSA, VRE, ESBL) - Lecture will define the epidemiology and virulence factors; address infection control environmental aspects and discuss the treatment modalities for MDROs.
• Clostridium difficile (C diff) - C. diff spores leave the body through an infected person's diarrhea. The spores can then contaminate surroundings. The spores can also be spread through the air (during bed-making for example). The spores are able to survive for a long time outside of the body unless they are destroyed through very thorough cleaning.
• Surgical Site Infection (SSI) Prevention - Review of prevention indicators

Provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, provider number CEP 26, for 4.0 contact hours.

Attendees will not receive C.E. credit if they are more than 20 minutes late; no partial credit can be awarded.
