Demolition History

Professional Building

Professional Building was a 75,955 gross square foot, two-story structure built in 1963. A seismic evaluation conducted in 1996 resulted in a rating of “poor,” according to University of California criteria. Because of the marginal seismic rating, other known fire-code deficiencies and a feasibility study that recommended against renovation, this building was closed permanently in 1999. It previously housed administrative functions such as the medical library & medical illustration (now in the Redwood Building); clinical functions such as allergy-immunology, dermatology, endocrinology, gastroenterology (relocated to the Ambulatory Care Clinic) and surgery (now in the Cypress Building).
