Demolition History
Boiler Plant
Boiler Plant was a 14,800 gross square foot structure built in 1925 on the east side of the main hospital. It is a one-story building of unreinforced stucco with a gable roof sheathed with red clay tile and cupolas on the roof ridges. A brick chimney rises 60 feet high on the west side of the building. According to 1996 University of California seismic criteria, the Boiler Plant received a “very poor” rating when surveyed in 1996. Until 1997, the plant provided heat, hot water and emergency power to the hospital.
