East Wing Renovation
Construction Start: 2005
Construction End: 2012
Cost: $14 million
Renovation of this eight-story section of the hospital, completed in 1964, is required to comply with SB 1953, the state law regarding seismic safety for hospitals. The single largest item in the renovation will be the reinforcement of the structural attachments of the wing’s exterior, precast concrete panels. Rerouting utility lines to move them away from the north-south wing demolition also will form a major part of the renovation work.
