Barbara Rickabaugh, R.N., M.S.N., N.E.-BC
Barbara Rickabaugh, R.N., M.S.N., N.E.-BC, received her bachelor of science degree in Nursing from California State University, Chico in 1997; her Masters degree in Nursing from University of California San Francisco in 2001 and minored in Education. Barbara attended the Wharton Nurse Leaders Program, at the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School Aresty Institute of Executive Education in October 2012, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Barbara attended the Institute for Performance Management & Improvement 5-day Accelerated Practical Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Course, in March of 2010, in Fair Oaks, California. She completed the Advanced Practice Institute, 2nd Annual Advanced Practice Institute” Promoting Adoption of Evidence Based Practice at the University of Iowa, Iowa City, Iowa, in September 2003.
Ms. Rickabaugh is a member of Sigma Theta Tau, Nursing Honors Society (Alpha Eta), and The Western Institute of Nursing.
Ms. Rickabaugh accepted her position at UC Davis Medical Center in the Center for Nursing Research in 2000. She has held a variety of nursing positions during her career; staff nurse in critical care and in emergency nursing. She has substantial experience in nursing management positions; Nurse Manager of Telemetry, Nurse Manager of Intensive Care Unit, Base Hospital Nurse Coordinator, and Nurse Manager of an Emergency Department, before joining UC Davis Medical Center.
Barbara is currently the Chairperson for the System-wide Research Council, Chairperson of Nursing Grand Rounds, and serves as an editor for UCDNurse, a UC Davis nurse publication. Barbara is the DAISY Awards Coordinator for UC Davis Medical Center. She currently enjoys teaching Evidence-Based Practice methodology and Project Management courses and mentors research studies with UC Davis nurses. She founded and manages First Tuesday, a UC Davis Medical Center Patient Care Services electronic communication blog.
