Hugs system training
UC Davis Health System is utilizing new state-of-the-art security, the Hugs system. The Hugs system is an electronic system designed to protect infants and children from the threat of abduction while in the hospital. Hugs creates a “safe area” where infants and children are monitored at all times. The system generates alarms when an infant or child is removed from the “safe area”, when a tag has been tampered with or when the tag has not been seen by the system for a period of time.
Completion of this module is the first part of the training for the Hugs infant/child security system. In order to complete the training, staff will demonstrate correct application of the device and strap, review the HUGS Infant/child Security Program policy and its attached procedure (Hospital Policies and Procedures #3302), and review the brochure, "Safeguarding infants and children in the hospital: Guidelines for parents". For Davis 7 staff see binder on the unit with check-off sheet and additional materials.
