Course description

This course is designed to provide information for registered nurses who care for patients that are receiving advanced intravenous therapy. The following topics related to advanced line therapy will be discussed, including indications for the type of intravenous line placed, policies and procedures, peripherally inserted central catheters, Port-A-Caths, Hickmans, Groshongs, Broviacs and special infusion pumps. Nursing management, identifying common complications and troubleshooting with advanced lines will also be addressed during this class.

C.E. credit

Provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, provider number CEP 26, for 6.8 contact hours.

UC Davis Medical Center is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

UC Davis employees

$25 registration deposit. Registration deposit is returned upon completion of class. Cancellation must be requested five days prior to class date to receive deposit refund.

Community registrants

$102 registration fee. Refund must be requested five days prior to class date and will be subject to a $25 service charge.

Parking

Free parking is available at the Courtyard by Marriott Hotel. Parking is available in lot 12 across the street from the hotel for UC Davis staff.
