Course description

This course is held in the Center for Virtual Care and utilizes the human patient simulator to increase staff knowledge, confidence and performance outcomes during respiratory crisis. Demonstration, return demonstration, case scenario re-enactments and role-playing are included in this course. The instructor will review:
  • O2 delivery devices, BVM assembly, gas flow and RT medications.
  • Patient assessment.
  • Bariatric surgery patients - increased abdominal and thoracic pressures, sleep apnea and sedation issues.
  • Patient sedation – assessment, intervention of pulmonary issues and respiratory intervention.

C.E. credit

Provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, provider number CEP 26, for 4.8 contact hours.

UC Davis Medical Center is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

UC Davis employees

$25 registration deposit. Registration deposit is returned upon completion of class. Cancellation must be requested five days prior to class date to receive deposit refund.

Community registrants

$72 registration fee. Refund must be requested five days prior to class date and will be subject to a $25 service charge.

Parking

Parking is available in the parking structure closest to the main hospital entrance, at the corner of Stockton Blvd and Colonial Way, Sacramento, CA, 95817. Rates in all attended lots are $1 for each hour.
