Course description

The Mobile Intensive Care Nurse course is designed to prepare registered nurses for authorization as MICN’s. This course is only for nurses employed by the following Sacramento County base hospital emergency departments:

  • Mercy San Juan
  • Methodist
  • Sutter General
  • UC Davis Medical Center

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to

  • Describe the function of the MICN
  • Identify the prehospital management of patients in various medical and trauma emergencies.
  • Describe the skills and drugs that can be used in the prehospital setting.
  • Simulate communication between field and base hospital personnel.

Prerequisites

  • California R.N. license.
  • AHA ACLS course completion.
  • Six months of experience at an EMS base hospital emergency department.

C. E. credit

Provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, provider number CEP 26, for 25.0 contact hours.

UC Davis Medical Center is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

Registrations are confirmed only if deposit or fee is provided with registration form.

UC Davis Health System employees & community health-care providers

$180 registration fee. Includes MICN manual, morning and afternoon refreshments (lunch on your own).

Cancellation must be requested five days prior to class date to receive a refund and will be subject to a $25 service fee. If the provider cancels the course a full refund will be provided.
