Course description

This course is intended to review the cardiac cycle, its components and normal variations. A variety of rhythms will be identified and their features discussed. This course will provide information that is helpful in preparing staff to successfully complete an Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) course.

Topics covered

  • Cardiac pharmacology including epinephrine, amiodarone, lidocaine, atropine, beta blockers
  • Lethal arrhythmias
  • Interpretation of voltage and time calibrations on EKG paper
  • Practice identifying rhythm strips

C.E. credit

Provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, provider number CEP 26, for 7.0 contact hours.

UC Davis employees

$25 registration deposit. Registration deposit is returned upon completion of class. Cancellation must be requested five days prior to class date to receive deposit refund.

Community registrants

$70 registration fee. Refund must be requested five days prior to class date and will be subject to a $25 service charge.

Parking

Parking is available in lot 25, approximately one block from the Broadway Building on 50th Street adjacent to the M.I.N.D. Institute. Park with a UC Davis parking permit, or purchase a daily permit for $4.
