Asthma Management
Course description
This course will increase the learner’s knowledge in assessment and intervention of hospitalized asthma patients.
Topics covered
- Define asthma.
- Explain inflammatory disease of the airway, and airflow obstruction secondary to the inflammation.
- Discuss incidence of asthma in the U.S.
- State two factors in asthma deaths.
- Discuss pathogenesis as it relates to asthma.
- State indications of nebulizer treatment vs. MDI.
- Explain the goal of asthma therapy.
C.E. credit
Provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, provider number CEP 26, for 3.5 contact hours.
UC Davis Medical Center is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

UC Davis employees
$25 registration deposit. Registration deposit is returned upon completion of class. Cancellation must be requested five days prior to class date to receive deposit refund.
Community registrants
$52 registration fee. Refund must be requested five days prior to class date and will be subject to a $25 service charge.

Parking
Parking is available in lot 25, approximately one block from the Broadway Building on 50th Street next to the M.I.N.D. Institute. Park with a UC Davis parking permit, or purchase a daily permit for $4.
