Javeed Siddiqui, M.D., M.P.H. Associate Medical Director, Center for Health and Technology Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine, Division of Infectious and Immunologic Diseases, School of Medicine, University of California, Davis At the Center for Health and Technology Dr. Siddiqui serves as medical director for the telemedicine program and has been actively involved in HIV/AIDS and Infectious Diseases telemedicine since 2002. In addition, Dr. Siddiqui and the CHT are currently embarking on an in-patient, infectious diseases telemedicine consultation program. Dr. Siddiqui is a co-investigator in a number of clinical trials primarily in the field of HIV/AIDS. He has written several articles in peer reviewed journals, published manuscripts and presented abstracts at national conferences. |

Jana Katz-Bell, M.P.H. Assistant Dean, Interprofessional Programs, UC Davis School of Medicine and Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing Jana Katz-Bell has an appointment in both the School of Medicine and the proposed School of Nursing as Assistant Dean, Interprofessional Programs. In this capacity, she has responsibilty for the administrative infrastructure of the School of Nursing, partially funded by a $100 million committment from the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation, a grant which Jana co-wrote. The Center for Health and Technology and the Center for Virtual Care also report up through her with her focus on state-wide initiatives to advance telehealth and medical education. Prior to this role, Jana was the Assistant Dean for Administration for the School of Medicine, and served for 11 years as the Chief Administrative Officer for the UC Davis Center for Health and Technology. Under her leadership, the CHT won national and worldwide attention as one of the best telemedicine programs in the United States. During her past thirteen years with UC Davis Health System, Jana has also managed the Sacramento County Contract, a $25 million/year contract to provide services to medically indigent adults, managed the Heart Center, and worked on a number of other strategic initiatives. Jana received her bachelor’s degree in genetics from the University of California, Davis, and her master’s degree in public health at the University of California, Berkeley. In addition to her formal education and extensive background developing and managing telehealth programs, Jana has become a nationally recognized speaker of telemedicine issues and her testimony during deliberations of the California State Legislature on Senate Bills 1665 and 2098 led to legislation which favors telemedicine reimbursement. Jana is very interested in the intersection between technology and policy and currently is a board member of the Center for Telemedicine and eHealth Law. |

Anna Orlowski, J.D. Chief Health System Counsel As Hospital Counsel for the UC Davis Health System, Anna Orlowski provides legal consultation related to telemedicine, managed care contracting, business contracts, and Medicare/Medi-Cal issues. Ms. Orlowski is a licensed attorney in California, Oregon and Washington, and has worked in the areas of professional and general liability as well as complex business litigation for nine years. Ms. Orlowski received her bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Los Angeles, and her juris doctor from the University of Pacific, McGeorge School of Law. As technological advances increase the quality and accessibility of health care, it becomes increasingly necessary for medical facilities to maintain an understanding of the legal implications of these new developments. Ms. Orlowski has been a valuable resource in developing the UC Davis Center for Health and Technology. |

Shelley Palumbo, M.S., CCC-SLP Shelley Palumbo is the Assistant Chief of Operations and Administration for the Center for Health and Technology at UC Davis. Since joining the Center for Health and Technology, Shelley has been active in advancing the telemedicine program through program and policy development, operational management, specialty recruitment, and reimbursement initiatives. As the field of telehealth evolves, Shelley is responsible for guiding the CHT under the leadership and vision of Dr. Tom Nesbitt. Prior to UCDHS, Shelley worked in clinical and managerial healthcare positions specializing in neuro-rehabilitation. She holds a Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology, is certified through the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and is a licensed practitioner in the state of California. Shelley’s experience includes working with children and adults in acute home and community rehabilitation, acute rehabilitation, outpatient, transitional living, home health, skilled nursing, and a non-public school setting. Shelley has presented to local and national audiences on brain injury rehabilitation, as well as on various aspects of telemedicine. |

George Wu George Wu is the Technical Analyst and Lead Technical Project Manager for the UC Davis Center for Health and Technology. He began his employment with the CHT in 2002, after working in the Information and Technology field with the State of California. Mr. Wu received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Studies in 1999 and was certified in network system engineering in 2001. In his capacity of Technical Analyst and Project Manager, Mr. Wu provides vital support to the Telemedicine program by conducting research on current products and technological solutions, remote site assessment and implementation of telemedicine units, troubleshooting problems that arise on site installations as well as providing in-house technical support and mentoring for UCDHS IT staff. Mr. Wu also serves as technical consultant to rural and urban hospitals, clinics and state facilities throughout the country. Mr. Wu is an active instructor in the CHT’s Telemedicine Educational Program, speaking on all technical aspects of telemedicine applications. He has been an invited guest speaker at national conferences, addressing topics such as Telemedicine Technology 101, Equipment Selection and Support, Basic and Advanced Troubleshooting, and Room and Facility Design, to name a few. |
