Gaining knowledge and understanding of your health is the first step toward becoming an active self-manager. UC Davis Health System offers workshops, classes and support to educate and empower you to quit tobacco.

Educational opportunities are offered at varying times at UC Davis Medical Center as well as UC Davis Medical Group offices throughout the greater Sacramento region.

Strategies to Quit Workshop

2 hour interactive workshop addressing strategies to quit tobacco. Basic Information about tobacco addiction, how to break the addiction cycle, medications, and self-management skills.

Smoking Cessation Series - SToP Tobacco Program

Women holding a broken cigaretteThe SToP: Stop Tobacco Smoking Cessation series meets for 7 sessions over several weeks and focuses on empowering tobacco users to overcome the addiction. It incorporates many aspects of smoking cessation including behavior modification, nutrition, medications, and relapse prevention. Various tools and strategies are offered and a multidisciplinary team consults with the group to support each person’s process. Led by a Certified Tobacco Treatment Specialist.

Support groups available

Smoke-Free Support Group is a once a month, drop-in group for those who have quit  tobacco and desire ongoing support. Directed discussion about various topics as presented by participants. These groups provide support and encouragement through shared experiences for those who need help to maintain success in their new healthy lifestyle.Facilitated by a Certified Tobacco Treatment Specialist or Health Educator. Drop-in basis for UC Davis Health System Patients and Employees. No registration required.  

The support group meets the second Friday of each month, the dates are: 5/10, 6/14, 7/12, 8/9, 9/13, 10/11, 11/8, 12/13, & 1/10/2014 

Time: 3:30-4:30 pm  Room 3015B in the Ellison Center.  * On 12/13/2013 the group will meet in the Ellsion Center room 3030C
