Meters & Monitoring is a 1 1/2 hour workshop focused on making glucose testing work for you. Recommended for anyone interested in understanding blood sugar monitoring, and improving techniques and strategies. Discussion will include:
- Target blood sugar goals
- Strategies for testing
- How often to test
- Importance of recording blood sugars
Let's Get Started
Let’s Get Started is a 2 hour basic diabetes class for patients newly diagnosed or wishing to learn updated diabetes self-management skills.
Topics covered in the class include:
- Understanding basic diabetes physiology
- Basic nutritionion concepts
- Target blood sugar ranges
- Identifying high and low blood sugars
- The benefits of physical activity
Diabetes: Dining with Diabetes: The Basics
Dining with Diabetes is a 2 hour class focusing on diabetes nutrition basics.Participants who take this class are eligible for the Dining with Diabetes: Advanced course.Taught by a registered dietician, this class covers topics such as:
- Basic carbohydrate counting
- Meal timing
- Portion control
- Label reading
- General eating away from home

Dining with Diabetes: Advanced is a 2 hour interactive diabetes workshop taught by a registered dietitian. Participants will learn advanced skills using example food records and then design personal menus aimed to meet their needs. Required: Previous completion of In Charge and In Control or Dining with Diabetes: The Basics.
In Charge and In Control
In Charge and In Control
is a comprehensive diabetes series. Recognized by the American Diabetes Association for meeting the national standards for diabetes self-management education. The class takes place over four 2-hour and15-minute sessions or two 4-hour and 15-minute sessions. Topics covered in the class include:
- Understanding diabtes physiology
- Self care
- Nutrition
- Medication
- Physical activity
- Foot care
- Complications and action plans
RN Individual Diabetes Education
RN Individual Diabetes Education is an appointment with a Registered Nurse specialized in diabetes education to address recurring hypo/hyperglycemia, monitoring strategies, medication management, initiation of insulin injections, or other diabetes related issues. The educator works with the patient and the primary care provider to customize a regimen that fits the individual’s lifestyle. Cost: Subject to Co-payment if required
Recharge Workshop
Recharge Workshop is a 2 hour workshop taught by a certified diabetes educator. The course reviews self-care strategies and participants will receive updates on diabetes information. It is designed as a follow-up course for patients who have attended multiple classes, including In Charge and In Control, and may need to be re-energized about their diabetes self care. Recognized by the American Diabetes Association (ADA).
