Child Neurology Clinic
The central nervous system is critical to nearly all essential body functions — vision, hearing, digestive processes, motor functions such as walking and writing, and, of course, all of the thought processes within the brain. The Child Neurology Clinic at UC Davis Children's Hospital specializes in diagnosis and treatment of disorders and illnesses of the nervous system, including epilepsy, congenital myasthenia gravis (also known as congenital myasthenic syndrome), neuromuscular diseases, brain malformations, Down syndrome, autism, and neurological complications associated with trauma, cancer and congenital diseases.
The Neurology Clinic is affiliated with the M.I.N.D. Institute (Medical Investigation of Neurodevelopmental Disorders), a program integrating investigations into developmental disorders of infancy and childhood, including autism and mental retardation studies in the Fragile X Clinic. The medical staff members of the Child Neurology Clinic are available around the clock for consultations in UC Davis Children's Hospital. In addition, they conduct daily outpatient clinics at the M.I.N.D. Institute and provide consultations at Shriner’s Hospital. The attending neurologist is also available for phone consultation with physicians outside of the immediate UC Davis Health System.
