HOPE Clinic

The HOPE clinic is a free clinic for homeless children established in 1997 by UC Davis resident Clifford Yee, in partnership with Sacramento County and the Sacramento Area Emergency Housing Center. The clinic has won numerous awards for community service and has received a CATCH grant from the American Academy of Pediatrics. The clinic delivers primary care to homeless children at a homeless shelter, only five minutes from the UC Davis Medical Center, and meets every other Wednesday afternoon.

Typically staffed by two UC Davis pediatric residents and a nurse, the residents can participate in the clinic at a variety of levels:

  • Helping staff the clinic
  • Assuming a leadership role in everyday operations
  • Long term planning
