Intramural Funding Opportunities
Through funding from the National Cancer Institute, the American Cancer Society and through institutional support, the UC Davis Cancer Center makes available pilot grants and project funding to encourage studies that will lead to peer-reviewed, national funding from NIH, DOD, ACS, etc. These grants are awarded on an intramural basis; therefore 1) decisions are made locally by Cancer Center leaders or special faculty panels and 2) processing through the sponsored program offices in the School of Medicine or Office of Research are not required of applicants. Institutional funding utilizes limited discretionary funds under the authority of the Cancer Center director. 
Developmental awards are specifically funded by the National Cancer Institute through the center's Cancer Center Support Grant to advance work within the scientific programs.
Institutional Research Grants (IRG) are made available to investigators in the early phase of their careers (within seven years of initial academic appointment) who are not currently recipients of national, peer-reviewed funding.
