Kiwanis Family House
2201 48th Street, Sacramento

Adult patients and their families, who travel over 35 miles to receive treatment may be elligible for low-cost lodging near the Cancer Center in the the Kiwanis Family House. The Kiwanis Family House is located within walking distance of the Cancer Center and offers inexpensive family accommodations — with individual room and bathroom, as well as access to full kitchen, living areas and laundry facilities. The UC Davis Medical Center's shuttle service provides travel assistance to Kiwanis House residents within the Medical Center campus. Kiwanis Clubs from around the Sacramento region provide financial support and volunteer staff for the facility. Residency in the Kiwanis Family House is through referral from a UC Davis Health System employee. The room cost is $40 per night. Call 916-734-2583 for more information.

 

Ronald McDonald House
2555 49th Street, Sacramento

Ronald McDonald House is located within walking distance of the Cancer Center. Pediatric patients and their families, who travel over 50 miles to receive treatment, come to the Ronald McDonald House through a referral system. Referrals are accepted from our pediatric social workers, nurses, physicians and unit clerks. About three to five days before the family is due to arrive, the family will receive a call from the social worker's or doctor's office to confirm their stay if a room is available. The room cost is $60 per night; however, a $20 donation is requested. No family is ever turned away who is in financial difficulty; a portion or the entire fee may be waived. The Sharing Place
5105 F Street (on the Sutter Memorial Hospital Campus), Sacramento

The Sharing Place hospitality house provides lodging for out-of-town for cancer patients and their families whose loved ones are receiving medical treatment at any Sacramento hospital.  Guests must be able to independently perform daily activities and are encouraged to have a support person with them, if possible. Patients and/or families who reside approximately 50 miles outside of Sacramento may make reservations after a referral from a hospital staff person has been received. The home has 15 private bedrooms with private baths and telephones. Community rooms include a living room, family room with TV/VCR, kitchen, dining room, laundry room and a kid’s playroom. A quiet courtyard, playground and three RV spaces are also available. Guests prepare their own meals and maintain their bedrooms during their stay.  There is a minimal per night charge.
