UC Davis Cancer Center

Our Team

Building

At UC Davis Cancer Center, our collaborative approach to cancer care starts with teams of doctors who work together to develop the ideal treatment or combinations of treatments for each patient. We have one team devoted to diagnosing and treating breast cancer, another to prostate cancer, a third to lung cancer, and so on. The experience and expertise of these teams make us one of the nation's top cancer centers.

No matter how many specialists are on a patient's health care team, however, one UC Davis Cancer Center doctor will coordinate all care. This doctor will see the patient on a regular basis for examinations, to discuss progress and to answer questions.

UC Davis Medical Center maintains a physician database that lists key information about each of our doctors, including education, board certification, teaching and research interests, research publications and philosophy of care. If you know the name of a doctor and would like to learn more about him or her, click here to search our physician database.

Fellows, residents and interns

Fellows and residents are licensed physicians who are pursuing advanced subspecialty training in such areas as hematology and oncology, surgical oncology or radiation oncology. Interns are recent medical school graduates. These professionals may be part of your health care team, working closely with the doctor who coordinates your care.

Nationally recognized nursing team

We take pride in our all-R.N. nursing staff. The national Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation has repeatedly recognized UC Davis Cancer Center for its extensive use of oncology-certified registered nurses. These are nurses who have passed an exam demonstrating advanced knowledge and competence in caring for people with cancer. The recognition is reflects the quality of our patient-care services and professional nursing practices.

Professionals who treat the whole patient

Rounding out the treatment team are highly trained professionals who are available to help patients with nutrition, provide emotional support or assist with practical matters like housing and transportation. These professionals include registered dietitians, genetic counselors and social workers.
